How do you hook stereo speakers up to a HDTV?

We have a newer Samsung HDTV and two speakers that plug into the stereo system with those colored wires you have to clip in. What do you have to do to transfer them to TV? And, is it difficult or do you have to buy something extra?

      For connecting external speakers to connect to them they have aa optical audio output that you have to them they have speaker terminal for connecting external speakers than what it came.
